Fortunately, dental emergencies are rare. Because an emergency can happen at any time, we want you to be as prepared as possible. Here are a few of the common dental emergencies that can occur:

  • Knocked out tooth
  • Broken or cracked tooth
  • Broken jaw

  • Object caught between teeth
  • Severe toothache

If you experience a dental emergency, remain calm and call our office immediately. We will be able to talk you through it over the phone and we will do our utmost to get you into our office for care. For knocked out teeth, remember that we can often save your tooth, if you act quickly and come into our office right away.

Of course, preventing dental emergencies is the best case scenario. There are several precautions you can take to help avoid these issues.

First, never use your mouth to open or tear non-food objects. Second, wear a mouth guard or protective gear when you are playing sports or doing other strenuous physical activities. Finally, be careful when eating hard foods, taking care to avoid biting down too hard on nuts, popcorn kernels, hard candies, ice and other items.

We can help you with these dental emergencies. Call today if you are experiencing any of these distressing conditions.
